April month has been a fun and a fruitful month, attended a lot of fun events and the best part was that I got an opportunity to attend one of the most premium events in the luxury circuit. Yayyyy! got an invite to the Negroni Week Celebration hosted by BAR UNO at JW MARRIOTT, a ten-day celebration from 20th April to 30th April 2018 and The Crumb Stash was super excited to be a part of this exclusive fest with the most popular summer cocktails in town.
Let me throw some light on the "Negroni". In the early 1900's in Florence, Italy, Negroni was born when Count Camillo Negroni asked his favorite bartender to add an extra kick to his drink. So the bartender mixed some gin, one part Vermouth Rosso, one part Campari and garnished the drink with an orange slice and that's how the Negroni was born. This classic cocktail is a balance of sweet, savory and bitter flavors in one elegant drink and is Italy's great contribution to the cocktail canon.
BAR UNO at JW MARRIOTT decided to excite the Bengalureans with these exotic Negroni's and soothe the summer with traditional recipes using home-made ingredients and herbs. I had an amazing evening experiencing the making of Negronis right in front of my eyes. Yup! they raised the bar with the Negroni trolley, that's so cool, right? The trolley has got an array of all the ingredients lined up, when the customer wants to indulge in, the Negroni trolley goes to their couch and the customer can become a pampered couch potato, experience the making of these exotics, sip them and just chillax.

I did the sampling of two different Negroni's "My Style Negroni" and "Vintage Negroni" and I found a surprising amount of taste deviation from drink to drink in taste, potency, balance and quality while most of the ingredients used were the same. The bar also created a buzz with an awe-inspiring presentation with a smoked drink "Vintage Negroni" which consisted equal part of Gin, Campari, Home-made Rosso stirred and aged in an oak barrel for seven days and garnished with a dehydrated orange wheel.
It was a beautiful display of softly wafting smoke that twirls upward, past the patron's nostrils and then into the air. It's just as much as an aromatic experience as it is a visual one and once the smoke gradually disappears, the mild cherrywood-fire scent lingers with the drinker to enjoy as they sniff and sip.
The smoke from the cherrywood produced its own essence thereby elevating the overall flavor profile of the cocktail.

"My Style Negroni" is a simple and refreshing drink, a very continental and soothing drink for the summer. I must say that this one easily dominates all the summer cocktails. The marriage between sweet vermouth and the bitters was so perfect. This boozy and slushy drink turned out to be my all-time favorite.
Overall, a note-worthy and happy point to take from this event was how well "BAR UNO" has conceptualized this classic cocktail in the moving trolley and made it an absolute luxury to their patrons. I personally love JW Marriott as they always find innovative ways to give back to their customers and this event was as exclusive as it can get.
