AN AUSTRALIAN AFFAIR BY CHEF RAPHAEL SZUREK AT ALBA, JW MARRIOTT BENGALURU | A FLAVOURSOME EXPERIENCE
They say that "We feast from our eyes and not from our mouth", But I would say that the food fest, "AN AUSTRALIAN AFFAIR AT ALBA" that's exclusively curated by the bubbly and charming Chef Raphael Szurek is literally a feast and pleasure to eyes as well as to our tastebuds too! The bold and colorful presentation of the food will treat all your senses right. JW Marriott Hotel Bengaluru as we all know is a stunning property where the creme de la creme of the city hang out and for a superlative gastronomic destination, you must land at this award-winning restaurant ALBA. The chef has curated and presented a slice of Australia that will subtly seduce you and warm your hungry soul.
Once you enter ALBA, classy and luxury vibes start hitting you and you will fall in love with the elegantly done interiors, huge glamorous chandeliers, different kinds of hand-made pasta splashing off some vibrant hues, comfortable couches where you can just relax at the end of a tiring day and the beautiful singing accent amidst the warm glowing candle will make sure that you will have a quality time alongside the gourmet cuisine. It's so posh and yet you will feel at home.
Chef Raphael Szurek has come all the way from Silvester's restaurant, Sydney Harbor Hotel at Circular Quay to excite the people in India with his extraordinary culinary skills and set everyone's spirit high!.
After a formal introduction with the chef, the dishes started flowing in and every dish that came to the table resembled a masterpiece. I just felt like being in Masterchef Australia show for some time. Kick-started the evening with some soft and fluffy bread.
The Organic Farm Beets with Dessert Lime and Davidson Plum Sorbet deserves a full 10/10, the bold colors of the beet, that sorbet with pink hue was legit a pleaser to our eyes as well as to our palates.
There's the Burrata with Confit Zucchini and Tuscan Kale to get your cheesy tastebuds tingling.
Crab lovers totally raved about this Local Crab with Avocado and Grapefruit that was presented as a piece of art.
While the veggies indulged in the Pumpkin Gnocchi, seafood lovers went gagaga on some of the glorious dishes like the Red Snapper with Chorizo, Capsicum, Squid and the Sea Bass with Dashi, Leeks.
I've always been a lamb lover, and to me, lamb shoulder is the most versatile cut of all. The Confit Lamb Shoulder with Eggplant and Deer Tounge was totally rave-worthy, tender, flavorsome, succulent and sensational. I must say it took me to the seventh heaven!
All the desserts were like a beautiful dream, especially the Pavlova 2.0. I just learned one big lesson from this Australian Affair, that pavlova is the dreamiest dessert ever! The whole thing drenched in raspberry sauce was so light and delicate as a feather. I totally fell in love with that pale color, the meringue, the cream's flavor, that rosy-cheeked and juicy raspberry that added a pop to the plate. This is truly a glorious dessert.
Blood Orange made with Tofu, Olive Oil, Milk chocolate and Peanut Butter Ganache also deserve a special mention.
Signing off here by saying that, An Australian Affair at Alba is one experience of a lifetime. Also, I did understand this, All that Chef Raphael Szurek had in his mind while offering a bit of Australia to India was to match the energy of the city which is Bengaluru! and he did that perfectly right.
Bye for now!
