Toscano being the brainchild of internationally acclaimed Chef's Jean Michel Jasserand and Goutham Balasubramanian, the restaurant boasts the best of food and drinks, classy ambience, courteous service and a romantic fine dining experience.
A bunch of us were at Toscano, Forum Mall Koramangala for am Italian lunch experience, After me hearing a lot of positive word of mouth about this winning place, i was all eager to try out their authentic Italian food. Toscano is not just about pizza and pasta's, it offer's a wide range of food - from salads and appetizers to soups, risotto's and hearty desserts too with that perfect ambience which instantly shifts one to Italy.
Ambience:
At Toscano, the ambience is mild, classy and is tastefully done to suit the kind of food it offers. One is sure to feel the sophistication accompanied with some great music, adds pleasure to that memorable dining experience.
The Food - The Ecstasy:
We started of the lunch with some Veg and Non-Veg Antipasti. In Veg, we had the Spinach and Ricotta Polpettine. To me, Spinach and Ricotta is a match made in heaven and those cute little Polpettine's were brillianly done. Artichoke and Sun blushed tomato Bruschetta with Bocconcini and some Assorted Patina's were other Veg Antipasti's , the bruschetta's were a huge hit among the crowd. In Non-Veg, i loved the Chilled Prawn Cocktail, it was rightly done, chilled to perfection and looked so beautiful dressed up sexily in yummy and a subtle cocktail sauce.
It was soup time, and we decided to break the stereotype model of ordering hot soup's and went in for some Chilled Tomato Gazpacho, It's in common with a smoothie but not a smoothie, it's a chilled soup and if this Chilled Tomato Gazpacho cannot fix the summer right, then what else can???
For the salads, I ordered a simple one, Toscano's Caesar Salad, crisp romaine lettuces tossed in special Caesar Salad, seasoned herbed oil, topped with homemade garlic croutons and super aged parmesan. The salad was simple and bland.
In starters, we had the Spinach, potato, spaghetti and walnut croquettes, Pugliese Classic and Chicken Bruschetta.
For main course, I ordered the Homemade Pumpkin & Ricotta filled Ravioli tossed in tomato cream sauce and basil, I love stuffed pasta's and hence the Ravioli was my choice. This classic pumpkin and ricotta filled ravioli is an ideal dish for lunch/dinner and I ordered it because it's classic and it was sooper delicious.
I also loved few other dishes which my friends had ordered like Lasagna Verdure, Risotto con Pollo e-Verde, Risotto con Zucca e-carote. Homemade Spinach and Ricotta filled Ravioli. I loved the buttery and creamy risotto's which was sooper yumm and a colorful play of vegetables. Both the veg and non-veg risotto's were a huge hit among the group.
A special friend of mine, ordered the Tiger Prawn's and stood unique out of the crowd. She fell so much in love with her dish. All that she said was, the prawn is sooper fresh and perfectly cooked. The Tiger Prawns was scented with tarragon and served with some Spaghetti Vegetables and Warm Potato salad,
In Bevarages, i ordered the Virgin Mojito and Basil Orange. Both of the mocktails were great and refreshing.
Dolci :
Yayyyy, It's Dolci time now. Frankly, to talk about Toscano's Dolci's, I need to write another blog post now, yes i mean it because the desserts were all way too rich and sooper delicious, Let me tell it like an Italian "DELIZIOSO " . Whether you have a sweet tooth or not, Toscano's desserts will pamper you and make you go crazy on it, They instantly elevate the mood and make you bump up with joy.
Chocolate eclair, Traditional Creme Brule, Salted Vanilla Cheese Cake, Warm Apple Crumble.
I enjoyed all their delizioso dolci's. Toscano's signature Chocolate Kahlua Mousse was great, The Tiramisu perfectly picked us up with it's caffeine kick.
The Affogato al Caffe is a classic Italian dessert which most of us were not able to resist and i should say it's coffee lover's dream. A scoop of Vanilla ice-cream drowned in a warm shot of rich aromatic Italian Espresso and topped with some crumbled biscotti's. It turned out to be delightfully my favourite dessert.
