Jowar/jowar dalia is a humble healthy grain which has lots of health and nutritious benefits. Jowar is a gluten-free, high-protein, cholesterol-free source of a variety of essential nutrients, including dietary fiber, iron, phosphorus and thiamine. So, i decided to make a healthy steamed kozhukattai(dumpling) with this produce. Do try it out and lemme know how it turned out.
Jowar dalia - 1 cup
Jaggery - 1/2 cup
water - 1/2 to 1 cup ( adjust accordingly)
Cardamon powder - a sprinkle
Dry ginger powder - a sprinkle (optional)
Shredded coconut - 1/4 cup
Nuts - optional

Heat a pan with ghee, fry the nuts and remove. add shredded coconut, fry them and then remove
Add the dalia to the same ghee , fry till it releases the aroma and slightly changes it color, remove it and allow to cool.
Take jaggery in a pan, add water to it, melt it. when it is melting and slightly boiling add some cardamon powder or crushed cardamon and also ginger powder, mix well,
Now slowly add the fried jowar dalia, shredded coconut, nuts. mix well
Cook untill the mixture leaves the sides of the pan, would take around 3-4 minutes , now add some ghee and mix well ( calorie conscious people can skip ghee )
Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly
Hand press it to round or oval shape, steam cook it for 10 minutes.
And now your healthy jowar dalia kozhukattai is ready..
